XI'AN, China, July 27, 2026 — CreatiPhage Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (CreatiPhage) and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU-FAH) have signed an agreement to jointly build a phagebank and launch a horizontal research project on phage therapy, accelerating clinical translation and industrialization of phage biotechnology against drug-resistant bacteria.
The signing ceremony was chaired by Prof. Wang Yawen, Deputy Director of XJTU-FAH's Science and Technology Department and Director of its Biobank. Attendees included Wu Nannan, CEO of CreatiPhage; Zhu Biao, COO of CreatiPhage; Han Suxia, Vice President of XJTU-FAH; Liu Bing, Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center; and representatives from infectious diseases, laboratory medicine, clinical research, achievement transformation and medical ethics.
Han Suxia said XJTU-FAH has become a leading center for phage research and clinical application in Northwest China. Its multidisciplinary team has completed more than 100 clinical phage treatments, ranking second nationwide in application scale. The joint phage library is expected to become Northwest China's first standardized resource platform, supporting multicenter studies and future industrialization under relevant regulatory pathways, including the New Biomedical Technology (Order No. 818).
Wu Nannan said the partnership combines XJTU-FAH's clinical and research strengths with CreatiPhage's industrialization capabilities. Prof. Liu Bing highlighted the need for standardized, scaled development of phage technology.
Experts also discussed multicenter clinical research, ethics review and investigator-initiated trial (IIT) procedures. Both sides said they will work to summarize the 100-plus treatment cases, pursue national filing, and open the 'last mile' from laboratory to ward and industrialization, bringing new hope to patients with drug-resistant bacterial infections.
